There’s something magical about a rainbow popsicle—especially when it’s made with real fruit and zero artificial dyes.

These Dye‑Free Rainbow Popsicles are bright, beautiful, and shockingly simple to make. Instead of blending six different flavors, you only need two fruit bases (strawberry and mango) and a pinch of spirulina to transform them into all the colors of the rainbow.

They’re creamy, refreshing, and naturally sweetened with fruit and yogurt.

My kids absolutely love them, and I love that they’re packed with real ingredients.

Whether you’re prepping for summer, a birthday party, or just want a fun freezer treat, these popsicles are guaranteed to be a hit.

Why You’ll Love These Dye‑Free Rainbow Popsicles

  • • Naturally colored using fruit + spirulina
    • Kid‑approved and perfect for summer
    • No artificial dyes or flavors
    • Gluten‑free, grain‑free, and easily dairy‑free
    • Only two base flavors needed to create all six colors
    • Fun to assemble and great for little helpers

These popsicles start with two simple fruit blends: a strawberry‑banana base and a mango‑banana base.

Each one gets mixed with yogurt and a splash of milk to create a creamy, smoothie‑like consistency.

From there, you divide each base into smaller bowls and use blue spirulina (or another natural colorant) to create the full rainbow:

• Strawberry base → red, orange, purple
• Mango base → yellow, green, blue

Once you have your six colors, simply spoon them into popsicle molds in rainbow order. Freeze for at least four hours, run the molds under warm water, and pop them out.

The result is a gorgeous layered popsicle that looks impressive but is incredibly easy to make.

Blue Spirulina is completely natural and actually a superfood, packed with vitamin B12, calcium, iron, magnesium, and 65 other trace minerals. Click the image below to grab my favorite brand

FAQ

Do I need six different fruit flavors?

No — that’s the beauty of this recipe. You only need two fruit blends, and spirulina helps create the rest of the colors.

What can I use instead of spirulina?

Any natural food coloring works. Blue spirulina is the cleanest option and gives the most vibrant results.

Can I make these dairy‑free?

Yes — simply use a full‑fat dairy‑free yogurt and your favorite plant‑based milk.

Can I skip the banana?

Banana helps with creaminess and sweetness. You can replace it with mango or pineapple, but the texture will be slightly icier.

How long do these popsicles last in the freezer?

They keep well for 2–3 months in an airtight container.

Can I swirl the colors instead of layering?

Absolutely. Swirling creates a fun tie‑dye effect and is even easier for kids to help with.
