FAQ

Can I make these cookies vegan?

Yes — swap the egg for a flax egg (1 tbsp ground flax + 3 tbsp water). The texture will be slightly softer but still delicious.

Can I use a different frosting?

Absolutely. The recipe uses Simple Mills or Miss Jones vanilla frosting, but any dairy‑free frosting works. You can also make your own if you prefer.

Do these cookies get crispy like Oreos?

They’re slightly softer than store‑bought Oreos, but chilling them in the fridge after assembling helps them firm up and gives that classic bite.

How should I store homemade Oreos?

Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. They also freeze well for up to 2 months.

Can I make them chocolate‑filled instead of vanilla?

Definitely — just use a chocolate dairy‑free frosting or mix cacao powder into your vanilla frosting.

How do I make them mint Oreos?

Add about 1/3 teaspoon mint extract to the frosting for a refreshing twist
