Key Ingredients
- Avocado – adds thick, creaminess, without having to add ice and risk the texture becoming icy. It’s tasteless!
- Raspberries, Frozen – adds to the bright and vibrant red color
- Cherries, Frozen – the key flavor here. Using frozen berries allows it to be that thick blizzard-style texture
- Collagen, Or unflavored or chocolate protein powder – adds a boost of protein to make this a more blood sugar balanced treat
- Hemp Hearts – adds a nutritional boost and healthy fats for a nourishing snack
- Cherry Juice – some liquid is needed to get all the thick & frozen ingredients to blend well together. Cherry juice adds to the flavor profile
- Almond Extract – amplifies the cherry taste here
- Semi-Sweet or Dark Chocolate Chunks – cherry and chocolate are a decadent pairing. Using dark chocolate paired with the cherries makes for an antioxidant packed treat


Process for this Cherry Chip Blizzard
- Blend / process all ingredients together, minus chocolate chunks, until smooth. Scrape the sides in been blends, but try not to add more liquid unless necessary or it will thin it out
- Fold in chocolate chunks
- Since there are so many frozen ingredients here it will be thick and ready to enjoy right away
Kitchen Tools Needed
- Blender or food processor – you will need to blend all ingredients together until completely smooth
- That’s it! This one is too easy not to try!

Variations / Substitutions
- If strictly dairy free / vegan be sure to use a plant based protein powder
- You can replace the avocado with frozen banana (note that you will taste the banana slightly with the cherry flavor), silk tofu, or raw cashews soaked in hot water for approximately 20 minutes, then drained
- You can replace the hemp hearts with chia seeds or flax seeds, or feel free to omit the seeds all together without affecting the texture
- If you don’t have almond extract on hand that is OK. The cherry flavor is much stronger with the extract, but it will still be tasty without it
Notes
The first time I made this I added collagen as my protein source because I didn’t want to take away from the cherry flavor, but now that I’ve tasted it I believe a chocolate protein powder would be a delicious touch
